Palm Coast Rural Carrier Melody Green (above) was
recently featured in the Palm Coast Observer in a human interest story about working at the Postal Service. Green, a
postal employee for 21 years, said her mother and grandfather were both postal
employees and she was eager to start a long term career with the Postal
Service.
In the article, Green describes a typical day, along with
one specific day that still stands out. “I
had a customer notify me they were going out of town on vacation for a week,” recalled
Green. “Two days later I noticed their car was back in their driveway, so
I knocked on the door to check if everything was alright. They came to the door, smiling cheek to cheek. They came back early to adopt a beautiful baby boy.
They had been waiting for years and years, and the chance came just after they
left for vacation. The smiles on their faces were priceless.”
Palm Coast Rural Carrier Melody Green (left) and
Postmaster James Davis, III, (right) were interviewed for the article. Davis discussed the important role employees
play in their communities by being observant and providing excellent service. Green also shared tips on how
customers can ensure swift and safe mail delivery, including filing change of
addresses well in advance and confining dogs when carriers are on the route.
Thank you for making employees #PostalProud, Melody and Jim!
