Chavez First In Area

District Manager Eric Chavez

Southern Area Master Black Belt Robert Pitsinger announced that Suncoast District Manager Eric Chavez is the first District Manager in the Southern Area to become Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certified.  The process to achieving Black Belt Certification includes two weeks of training, exams, statistical analysis and illustrating each of the Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) Phases with presentations.

“The Transportation Optimization project Mr. Chavez selected will result in an annualized savings of over $5 Million dollars,” said Pitsinger.   “I was very impressed with Mr. Chavez.  He was committed to understanding the different tools, not only how they would impact his own project, but also how they would impact everyday operations in the Suncoast District.”

Chavez will formally receive his Black Belt Certification, signed by Postmaster General Megan Brennan, during a recognition presentation.  “The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training teaches how to use advanced tools of continuous improvement processes,” said Chavez.  “Headquarters and the Southern Area are committed to advancing continuous improvement processes throughout the Postal Service at all levels of the organization. Our Suncoast Leadership Team will be an extension of that commitment to continuous improvement.”

Congratulations, Mr. Chavez! The Suncoast Team is honored to have you as our District Manager!
