Rural Carrier Heidi Brewer (third, right) was thrilled to receive the National
Safety Council’s Million Mile Safe Driver Award for driving over 1,000,000
miles without an accident. During the
celebratory event in front of her co-workers, Brewer was surprised when she was
joined by her husband, Tim (third, left), and her children (left to right)
Ryan, Doug, Shannon and Ethan.
Brewer
thanked Postmaster Karen Hebert for being a great mentor and leading by example
by focusing on safety. Overcome with
emotion, Brewer said, “Thanks for recognizing me and organizing the event.
Probably the most special part was my family surprising me by attending. After
all these years of going to their banquets and award programs, they now showed
up for me. How cool is that!"
