Bibens
began her postal career in 1973 in Chicago, as a casual for the holiday
season. After 90 days, she converted to a Part Time Flexible (PTF)
Carrier. She has also worked as a scheme clerk and in special delivery.
After visiting her parents in Englewood in 1981, she transferred to the
Englewood Post Office, where she has remained as a carrier.
She
has served as National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Shop Steward and
Treasurer for Branch 1477 and has attended conventions, where she reconnected
with some former carriers from Illinois. Bibens recalls lots of changes
over the 40 years, including having to use a pay phone when she needed to call
her supervisor.
Bibens (third, right) posed holding her 40-year Service Award with daughter Kaleli (third, left), DM Eric Chavez (right), former Englewood Postmaster Mark Schulz (second, right), Manager Post Office Operations A Mark Bevlin (left) and Englewood Postmaster Sherry Jude (second, left).
Congratulations,
Maurine!
