Venice
Custodian Darla White (left) is known for keeping the lobby looking great and
spreading good cheer among customers. Little did she know how important her
fine qualities would be to one customer who visited the Post Office just three
days before she was leaving on a trip to England. While cleaning the lobby White discovered a
wallet near the Self Service Kiosk (SSK) that included an ID, credit cards and
nearly $600 in cash. Postmaster Kevin
Sullivan (right) telephoned the customer to deliver the good news that her
wallet and contents were at the Post Office.
The
customer told Sullivan she was devastated when she discovered she lost her
wallet and contents (above). It
contained all of her money and the ID she needed for her airplane trip to
Europe. “The customer quickly arrived at the Post Office to pick up her
belongings. She had tears in her eyes and
was so thankful that she began giving out hugs,” said Sullivan. “Darla is a great employee and her integrity
does not surprise me. She definitely
made this customer’s holiday season memorable.”
Thank
you, Darla, for being a positive role model.
