West Melbourne Celebrates Veterans And More

Manager Post Officer Operations (MPOO) 3 John Rhoden (right) and Manager, Customer Services (MCS) Gia DeLeo (left) presented a Letter of Appreciation and a pin from Postmaster General Megan Brennan to all veterans who have served our country. Second left to right: Custodian Gary Miserendino; Retail Associate Kerry Karnetsky; Letter Carriers Thomas Huffman; Thomas Wear; and Albert (Boomer)

Powers; City Carrier Assistant Steven Roman; Letter Carriers Grey Shanahan; Robert Taylor; and Brian Grew; and MPOO John Rhoden (who is also a veteran). On this day, West Melbourne postal employees took a moment to honor and thank our service members and remembered their sacrifices they have made and the courage to defend our country and freedom.

Custodian Gary Miserendino (center) is retiring December 1, 2017, with 33 years of credible service. He was presented with his Retirement Certificate by MPOO John Rhoden (right) and Manager, Customer Services Gia DeLeo (left). Gary celebrated with his fellow employees who stated, “Gary will be missed, and we all wish him good health and happiness in this next chapter of his life.” Gary looks forward to visiting his grandson in Montana during the holidays.

Letter Carrier Michael Clark (center) was presented with his 3,000 Hour Sick Leave plaque from MPOO John Rhoden (right) and MCS Gia DeLeo (left). Mike went on to inform his fellow employees the importance of saving their sick leave in the event of an illness, which would prevent them from coming to work, but still earn a paycheck. Mike is also the Customer Connect Coordinator for the West Melbourne Branch, and is very involved in obtaining leads for revenue generation.

A celebration with food and refreshments was had by all employees in West Melbourne.

Thank you to all the veterans that have served and congratulations Gary and Michael!
