Richard Retires After 44 Years



Naples Postmaster Richard Barber (right) received his Retirement Certificate from District Manager Eric Chavez (left). Barber retired after 44 years of service.

Originally from Bronx, NY, Barber lived in Manhattan and moved to Southwest Florida in 1972 and began his Postal career in 1973 as a Part Time Flexible (PTF) Clerk in Naples. After nine years as a 204b in various capacities he was promoted to Supervisor, Station Branch Operations in 1985.

In 1993 Barber became Postmaster of Lehigh Acres and in 2000 he was assigned Postmaster of Marco Island. He received a promotion to Postmaster of Bonita Springs in 2004 and then promoted to Manager, Post Office Operations (MPOO 2) in 2008. Finally he became Naples Postmaster and Manager, Post Office Operations (MPOO 8) in 2009 where he finished his 44 year career.
