Tampa Hero Saves Family

Tampa Sulphur Springs Station Letter Carrier Chris Bazinet (left) was honored by Postmaster General (PMG) Megan Brennan with the PMG Hero Commendation Award.  District Manager Eric Chavez (right) presented the award and thanked Bazinet for his heroic actions.  Bazinet was on his route when he saw smoke billowing from the windows of an occupied car parked on the street.  He called 911 to alert authorities and ran to the car where he assisted two small children in the backseat to safety.  He returned to the car and unfastened the seatbelt of the mother in the driver’s seat and helped her to safety.  The car was then engulfed in flames and full of smoke minutes after this heroic rescue.

Bazinet and his co-workers enjoyed refreshments and a celebratory cake during the presentation event.

Thank you for your heroic actions, Chris!
