Pedal Power In St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg Open Air Station Letter Carrier Chris Hubble (left) continues a tradition of bicycle delivery that dates back as long as the historic Open Air Post Office itself.  Recently a Bay News 9 camera man filmed Chris on his route in downtown St. Petersburg for a special interest story.

Bay News 9 Reporter Trevor Pettiford (right) interviewed Letter Carrier Chris Hubble (center). "There's not one day that goes by that you don’t hear in the background, 'Oh my God! There's a mailman delivering on a bicycle." stated Hubble.  He said wheeling around downtown St. Petersburg is the best way to deliver the mail.

The Open Air Post Office was dedicated in September 1917. St. Petersburg Postmaster Jackie Villemaire, Suncoast District Manager Eric Chavez, employees, customers and St. Petersburg City officials celebrated the special occasion with a Centennial celebration in September 2017.
