The Kissimmee Oaks
Street Post Office Building, as designated by Public Law 115-154, was dedicated
to honor the, “Borinqueneers,” an acclaimed 65th Infantry Regiment
of the U.S. Army that was active from 1899 to 1956, during WWI, WWII and the
Korean War. Suncoast District Manager Eric Chavez (standing) welcomed the
Borinqueneers, community leaders, family and friends to celebrate this great
day for the community of Kissimmee.
Borinqueneers
memorabilia (above) was on display, including an enlarged replica of the Congressional Gold Medal that
was awarded in Washington, D.C.

Several of the
remaining Latino-American heroes (seated), who are now in their 80s and 90s,
attended the ceremony. Sons of Borinqueneers carried pictures of their fathers
with pride and the Borinqueneers Motorcycle Club attended to show their support
and honor the courageous heroes.
