Kissimmee Oaks Borinqueneers Dedication

 
 
The Kissimmee Oaks Street Post Office Building, as designated by Public Law 115-154, was dedicated to honor the, “Borinqueneers,” an acclaimed 65th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army that was active from 1899 to 1956, during WWI, WWII and the Korean War. Suncoast District Manager Eric Chavez (standing) welcomed the Borinqueneers, community leaders, family and friends to celebrate this great day for the community of Kissimmee.

 
Borinqueneers memorabilia (above) was on display, including an enlarged replica of the Congressional Gold Medal that was awarded in Washington, D.C.

 
The 463rd Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol Color Guard (above) presented the colors.
 
 
The large crowd (above) included residents and friends who gathered to honor the Borinqueneers.

 
Borinqueneers Command Sergeant Major Anibal Albertorio (standing, second right) presented Kissimmee Postmaster Dean Moseley (standing, second left) with a replica of the Congressional Gold Medal, as  Manager Post Office Operations John Rhoden (standing, left) looked on.  

  
Several of the remaining Latino-American heroes (seated), who are now in their 80s and 90s, attended the ceremony. Sons of Borinqueneers carried pictures of their fathers with pride and the Borinqueneers Motorcycle Club attended to show their support and honor the courageous heroes.
