You Must Create Awareness

Suncoast District Manager Steve Hardin (above) welcomed attendees to the Safety Symposium “You Must Create Awareness” hosted by Orlando Postmaster Diane Tindle; Manager, Post Office Operations (MPOO) Area B George Miller; Orlando Processing & Distribution (P&DC) Manager, Maintenance Tom Downs; and Seminole P&DC Manager, Lisa Lake.

From left: Construction Worker George Miller, Indian Diane Tindle, Police Officer Lisa Lake, Letter Carrier Ray Moten and Cowboy Tom Downs danced to YMCA, “You Must Create Awareness” (below) to get the crowd excited about safety awareness in their offices.

Several guest speakers presented safety tips on relevant topics. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Lieutenant Kim Montes (above) taught a class on “Driving Safety and New Texting Policy.” A lively presentation on “Hurricane Preparedness” was given by Orange County Office of Emergency Management Carlos Durden (not pictured) and Postal Inspector David Keith (not pictured) provided insight on how to survive an active shooter.

A Safety Coin incentive program was presented to attendees by Postmaster Tindle and Orlando Plant Administrative Assistant Kelly Fletcher to recognize employees for working safely. Employees are given a special coin (above) when they are observed working safely. After they acquire several coins, the employee can trade them in for items or gift cards.
