The recent Suncoast District “Focus On The
Vision” Career Conference drew a record crowd of over 900. District Manager Steve
Hardin hosted the conference to empower employees and provide them with the
tools to be successful in their chosen careers.
District Manager Steve Hardin (standing front,
right of flag) welcomed the huge crowd of enthusiastic employees. Hardin
captured the attention of attendees by sharing key points about his postal
career and sharing information on how employees can take steps to accomplish
their career visions.
Guest Speaker USPS Chief Customer and Marketing Officer (CCMO) and
Executive Vice President Jacqueline Krage Strako (standing, front left)
received great audience participation. She shared experiences about her postal
career, which began in 1989 as an Industrial Engineer at Postal Service
Headquarters in Washington, DC.
A
variety of workshops were available to assist with career advancement. Acting Manager, Post Office Operations
(MPOO), Area 5, Nefty Pluguez (standing, left) instructed attendees on the
importance of successfully completing their HERO profiles.
Leadership Team Members (above left) critiqued
eCareers and offered one on one career advice to attendees over the course of
the conference.
Vendor booths (above) were on hand and provided
employees with information from various groups.
A Golf Tournament at Disney’s Magnolia Golf
Course kicked off the conference, with 92 golfers participating. Winners of the coveted trophy were Orlando
Processing & Distribution Center (P&DC) Mail Handler Terrence Thomas
(far left) and his team of friends (second, fourth and fifth left). They “crushed” the field at 14 Under
Par! Managers, Post Office
Operations (MPOO) Sherry Jude (third left) and George Miller (far right)
coordinated the tournament and presented the award.
Senior Plant Manager Mark Dahlstrom (standing
right) provided closing remarks. Employees enjoyed a great weekend of
activities that included networking opportunities, educational workshops,
golfing, contest activities, dining and dancing.
The outstanding career conference was organized
by Acting Manager Human Resources Rich Howard (not pictured) and Human
Resources Generalist Principal Davina Best (second right). Best and the team that helped with the event
(above) received a special “thank you” for their achievements. Attendees at the
conference enjoyed a great weekend of activities that included networking,
educational workshops, golfing, contest activities, dining and dancing.
