Special Delivery: Heroism

From left: Acting MPOO, Area C, Christina Walker, CCA Chris Hill and Postmaster Roberta Stevens-Simmons.

Edgewater, FL, City Carrier Assistant (CCA) Chris Hill was recognized for saving the life of an elderly customer who had fallen and injured herself last August.

While making his rounds, Hill spotted the customer laying on the ground and bleeding outside her home. He rushed to her side, picked her up off the ground and carried her inside. He called out to a family member who was in the backyard and then called 911.

The woman was rushed to the hospital where she remained in intensive care for several days. The family credits Hill’s quick actions for saving the life of their mother.

Hill was recognized for his heroic efforts during a celebration at the Edgewater Post Office. Acting MPOO Area C Christina Walker presented Hill with a letter from Postmaster General Louis DeJoy commending him for his “selfless display of civic duty.”

Walker also read a letter from Area Retail & Delivery Operation Southern Vice President Tim Costello.

Employees were treated to refreshments following the event

The family of Chris Hill (left), including his father James Oscar (center) and brother James (right) were on hand to help celebrate their son-brother.

Thank you for your heroic actions, Chris!
