Thonotosassa, FL, Officer in Charge (OIC) Coleen Fisher admits she doesn’t
have a green thumb. But you would never know it from her recent Grow Your
Business Day (GYBD) event at the Thonotosassa Post Office.
Among the well-crafted display of Priority Mail boxes, red
white and blue balloons and informational literature was a tray of carefully
arranged seed packets for customers.
“It’s called ‘Grow Your Business’ so I thought, you’re
planting a seed and growing your business,” says Fisher. “I looked for
something inexpensive that didn’t have to do with food because of COVID. So, I
decided to go with seed packets.
“We’re trying to get the word out that we offer more than
what you see or what you are aware of,” she adds.
Along with the seed packets, party bags were placed around
the lobby so customers could drop in their business cards. “Customers noticed the display, asked what
was going on and what we were celebrating,” says Fisher who has worked at the
Level 18 office since July. “I did have one customer who started her own business,
so we may get a lead from her.”
This was Fisher’s first GYBD event. The office she came from
never held Grow Your Business events, so she decided to go all out and do
something that was both fun and festive – and unique.
