Florida
2 District MPOO J, Philip Fleener (above), recently ended a detail as
Fort Myers OIC. “This is my third trip back. I came here the first time as an
MCSO for the experience,” said Fleener, who began his postal career in 1995 as
a PTF in Bloomington, IN. “Then I returned a second time in the same position."
This time around though, Fleener came to Fort Myers as the Officer In Charge. In this new role, Fleener pushed the Southwest Florida PCC to success by increasing membership 200%. He oversaw one of the most difficult seasons that Fort Myers had to face in it's history with a pandemic and holiday package volumes at an all time high.
When asking those that work most closely with Fleener the same responses are received, "We will miss his leadership and passion for the position" commented Fleener's Administrator, Mari-jo Cummings (not pictured).
I asked Fleener what the biggest difference was in this new position. “As an MPOO, you’re overseeing other people managing their operations whereas in a Postmaster role, you’re more hands-on with managers and the day-to-day operations. I’ll miss that, but not as much as I will miss these people” he added.
Thank you for your dedication to Fort Myers Phil, you will be missed.
