Tampa Letter Carrier LaShawn Conner was featured on the
local TV news making hundreds of early morning deliveries during peak
season.
Conner, who carries out of Town N Country Station, told Bay
News 9 her deliveries begin at 6:00 a.m. On the day of her interview, she set a
personal record by delivering the most parcels ever in a single shift during
her career 28-year career. Click here to watch the interview: https://latakoo.com/-/view/10355952/video/11374e36da15adf1d700598a35e4be45/Kimberly.Smith%40charter.com
“This was the first year my station gave carriers the
option of volunteering for early a.m. deliveries,” said Conner. “I think it was
a great decision to start us earlier because it gets the first wave of packages
out before we begin our regular routes.”
Conner, who’s been on the same route for 17 years, said it
gives her a sense of pride to be able to deliver customer’s packages timely
during the Christmas season. “This year, I had a couple of customers say, ‘My
package got to me in two days.’” They are amazed because after everything you
hear on the news about shipping delays, we have it delivered in literally two
days – and I like hearing that!”
Meanwhile, Santa’s elves worked behind-the-scenes at Town N
County Station to get packages ready for carriers to make deliveries.
According to Manager, Customer Services Jessica Robinson
(pictured below, third from right) the morning crew would come in as early as
2:00 a.m.
“We rely on these folks a lot to put the packages in order
for the routes they are assigned to,” she said. “We hired four extra clerks for
the holidays to help with the influx in package volume.”
“Packages also tend to be a lot bigger this time of year,” she added.
