Orlando Letter Carrier Dennis Winston (right) recently
spent part of his workday being shadowed by WKMG-TV reporter Crystal Moyer (left).
“February 4th is ‘Thank a Mail Carrier Day’ and
as part of our Insider Program, people can fill out a survey and tell us what
kind of content they want to see,” she said. “The survey results showed respondents
wanted to see positive community-driven content.”
According to Moyer, many of those same people said they also
want to learn about different jobs. “So, I said, what better way to show people
about the community they live in than to highlight one of our local mail
carriers!”
The segment highlighting Winston will air during newscasts tomorrow,
Feb. 4. It will show what he does behind-the-scenes and how communities come
together through the relationships they build with postal employees.
Winston, an Army veteran and 21-year postal employee, has a
walking route in the Colonialtown North neighborhood, where he knows every
customer – and they know him.
“I love what I do, and my customers are the reason I do
it,” said Winston. “They are like family to me.”
