"The numbers are in and once again, the
Suncoast District is #1 in the nation," said District Manager Eric Chavez.
"This is the eighth year we have been first in the nation for collecting
food to help those who may otherwise go hungry. Thank you to each and
every employee who supported the Food Drive. Together we are making a
huge difference in our communities."
Congratulations to Orlando for earning #1 in the
nation, by collecting more than 2.23 million pounds. Two other Suncoast Post Offices were in the
Top Five in the nation. Clearwater earned
#3, with 1.3 million pounds and Pinellas Park earned #4, with 1.26 million
pounds. Los Angeles was #2 (1.52 million
pounds) and Miami was #5 (1.19 million pounds).
The 24th annual
Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, held on May 14, set a record, collecting more than
80 million pounds of food, well above the previous record of 77 million pounds.
The Food Drive now has surpassed 1.5 billion pounds since it began in 1993.
Way to go, Team Suncoast!
