Alva Rural Carrier Lydia
Hernandez (right) was presented with a Postmaster General (PMG) Hero Letter, signed by PMG Megan Brennan, for
her heroic actions. Postmaster Lynn
Southwick (left) recognized Hernandez during an event with her co-workers.
Hernandez was delivering mail
when she sensed something was wrong at a customer’s residence and alerted a
neighbor. They approached the home and discovered
the customer lying on the floor. Hernandez quickly dialed 911 and stayed until
the ambulance arrived. “Thanks to Lydia,
the customer was able to receive medical treatment. Lydia is being honored for
her diligence in recognizing something was not right and for her quick thinking
which potentially saved a customer’s life,” said Southwick. “It is an honor and pleasure to have Lydia as
a Postal Service employee.”
Congratulations, Lydia!
