Diversity…. Coming Together

The Suncoast “East” Diversity Committee, hosted a joint meeting in Orlando in February, reaching out across the district in an effort to expand involvement in diversity and inclusiveness efforts. With the goal of establishing satellite committees in the various zip-code areas across the district, representatives volunteered and were identified to spearhead the organizing and oversight of the new committees. The ultimate goal is to increase the opportunity for involvement from more employees by having groups established within a reasonable travel area.

Headquarters Diversity and Talent Acquisition representative, Erica Mann (standing left) participated as a guest speaker and shared interesting and valuable information on the current and future direction of diversity efforts from the highest levels in the organization. Suncoast Learning Development & Diversity (A) Manager, Jackie Calhoun (sitting left), attended in support of the committee’s efforts.

The participants enjoyed a nice lunch and lively conversation and discussion of ideas for future development and activities to promote diversity and inclusion. We are very much encouraged by the passion and excitement generated at this meeting and look forward to positive results.
