Like his father before him, Scott Mann (above) began his postal career as a letter carrier. He’s worked at Avon Park Post Office for 22 years and has been on his current delivery route since 2008.
Mann said it’s not uncommon for customers to offer him bottled water while out making his rounds. Other customers occasionally offer him fruits and vegetables from their gardens, including avocados, papayas, and watermelons. Mann said his customers are the most satisfying part about his job. "They are what bring me to work every day," said Mann.
“Before coming to the Post Office,
I was a volunteer fireman, which I did for almost 30 years,” he said. “Growing
up, I remember my dad’s salary provided our family everything we wanted, so it
wasn’t a hard sell when I decided to follow in my dad’s footsteps.”
