Be The Match

Suncoast Diversity Committee members (above) met in January for their monthly meeting with two projects on the agenda.  First, was the mail-out of this year’s Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) donor thank you gifts, and second was preparation of application kits for the National Marrow Foundation’s “Be-The-Match” Registry.  The committee has supported the foundation for the past several years, locally adding 118 new registrants in 2015 and off to a good start with 36 registrants for FY16.  The Postal Service has been a valued partner with the Foundation since 1997.  The rich diversity USPS employees bring to the table is a great benefit since finding the best match is not always a close relative, but rather someone with similar race and ethnic background.

Lights! Camera! Action!

Madeira Beach, FL, Letter Carrier Lance Carswell (above) scans a package in the Postal Service’s new TV ad.

The newest USPS TV commercial featuring Postal Service employees spotlights Suncoast District Letter Carrier Lance Carswell.  Lance works at the Madeira Beach Post Office and auditioned for the commercial by submitting a video.  The competition was immense, but Lance won over the producers for a coveted spot.

The new TV Ad encourages customers to use the Postal Service for timely and accurate package shipping and delivery.  Like the recent TV commercials, the new spot promotes real-time delivery notifications, a service that alerts customers when their packages arrive. The alerts are available year-round through My USPS.com.

The 15-second commercial, which will run through March, also can be viewed on Blue and the Postal Service’s YouTube Channel (USPS TV).

“I got the call that I was selected.  The weekend the ad was being filmed was the weekend I had planned on doing a 26-mile marathon run in Key West,” said Lance.  “The commercial was a once in a lifetime opportunity, so I went to New York City instead.  It was very exciting.  I had a great time and was happy to represent the Madeira Beach Post Office and the Postal Service.”

Way to go, Lance!
