New Smyrna Beach

Volunteers (above) sorted food donations collected by New Smyrna Beach employees.  Heavy rains did not deter the success of the food drive.  As of May 16, the total amount of collected food has surpassed past years by 10,000 pounds and is approaching the 30,000 pounds mark.

The donated food will help feed the local community.  “This increase is directly related to having promoted the food drive throughout the community with multiple signs and our banner and signs at the Post Office,” said Postmaster Elli Calidonio.  “Special thanks to retired letter carrier and current NALC Local Branch President Jim Zern.  His efforts are reflected on the success of the local food drive. I am also very proud of our employees and thankful for the response from our customers.”

Way to go, New Smyrna Beach!
