National Postal Workers Day

July 1 is celebrated by many as National Postal Workers Day.  It can be traced back to 1997, when a former postal employee in the Seattle District thought of the idea of having a day to recognize postal workers.

Although the employee’s idea did not go through the process to become an official day of recognition, it is an opportunity to thank Postal Service employees for their dedication and commitment to the Postal Service.

Mark Your Calendars & Celebrate National Postal Workers Day on July 1.

Winter Park Performs Perfectly

When Winter Park Postmaster Victor Lopez (above) received a frantic phone call from one of his customers, he knew his team of employees would do everything possible to assist.  The customer, Mr. Johnson, explained that he and his family were going on a vacation and were waiting for a package they needed for their trip.  They learned from the sender that the package was scheduled to be delivered the day after they were leaving.  “The customer made a point of stressing how important it was to receive the package before leaving for their trip,” said Lopez. “I quickly engaged the team.  We located the package and delivered it before the customer left for his vacation.”

Mr. Johnson was so thrilled with the excellent customer service that he posted the Twitter comment above, stating Winter Park employees are his heroes!  “The key is to keep everything positive and engage the employees in all aspects of their job,” said Lopez.  “Winter Park is a great team.  I have a new assignment and I am going to miss them.”  Lopez has a new position as Postmaster of Casselberry, FL.

Way to go, Team Winter Park!
