Moore Earns Green Belt



St. Petersburg Manager, Customer Service Operations (MCSO) Darrell Moore (center) received his Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from District Manager Eric Chavez (left) and Postmaster Jackie Villemaire (right).  The Green Belt is awarded to employees who apply the Lean Six Sigma methodology to drive local improvements within their functional area.  Moore’s Green Belt project improved the Post Office Box Up On Time percentage.

Edgewater Celebrates



Edgewater Retail Associates James Hill (left) and Eric Manor (right) received their Gold Stars Awards for earning perfect scores on Retail Customer Experience transactions. Manor has earned three Gold Stars while working in Edgewater and this is the Edgewater Post Office's 26th Gold Star.  


Manor will be working at the Deltona Post Office and was honored with a farewell event.  Edgewater employees Retail Associate Mary Bennett (front left), Postmaster Roberta Stevens (right), Postal Support Employee Kyle Sachse (back row left) and Retail Associate James Hill (back row right) celebrated with Manor.  All of the Edgewater employees wished Manor well on his new assignment in Deltona, but stated, “We will miss his laughter. Eric is always happy and makes us laugh.”

Students Love The Post Office



Pinellas Park kindergarten students (above left) visited the Post Office to mail Valentine’s Day cards.  Retail Associate Cathy Leonard (above right) helped the children stamp and mail their cards before showing them what happens after they place their cards in the mail slot.


Pinellas Park Letter Carrier Samuel South (above left) showed the students how mail is sorted for delivery and explained how their cards will be delivered.  The youngsters wanted to see the “mail truck” and were excited when South showed them the LLVs (Long Life Vehicles) that they see bringing mail to their homes.  “The children had fun and sent nice thank you notes back to the Post Office,” said Postmaster Dolores Seuwin.

45 Years For Joe



St. Petersburg Main Post Office Custodian Joe Darginio (center) received his 45–year Service Award and pin from District Manager Eric Chavez (right) and Postmaster Jackie Villemaire (left) during a celebratory event with his co-workers.  Darginio began his postal career as a Letter Carrier at the Largo, FL, Post Office.  He is a U. S. Air Force Veteran and served tours in Vietnam.
  

Darginio proudly displayed his 45-year Service Award (above, center) while joined by a group of St. Petersburg employees (above) who extended congratulations during the special event.


Employees celebrated with a delicious cake and refreshments after the award presentation.

30 Years For Daphne



Tampa Sulphur Springs Supervisor Customer Services Daphne McClennan (right) was surprised and thrilled to accept her 30-year Service Award and Pin from District Manager Eric Chavez (left). “There are many days when it does not feel like I have been with the Postal Service for thirty years.  I am very thankful,” stated McClennan.

Gary Celebrates 40 Years

Letter Carrier Gary Smith (center) proudly displays his 40-Year Service Award and Pin.  Joining in the celebration were Gary’s wife Karin Smith (left) and District Manager Eric Chavez (right). “The USPS does a phenomenal job of moving the mail, but most people have no clue how massive an operation it is. Gary prides himself on doing the best he can every day for the Postal Service,” stated Mrs. Smith. 



Gary and his co-workers enjoyed refreshments and a celebratory cake after the awards presentation.

Tampa Hero Saves Family



Tampa Sulphur Springs Station Letter Carrier Chris Bazinet (left) was honored by Postmaster General (PMG) Megan Brennan with the PMG Hero Commendation Award.  District Manager Eric Chavez (right) presented the award and thanked Bazinet for his heroic actions.  Bazinet was on his route when he saw smoke billowing from the windows of an occupied car parked on the street.  He called 911 to alert authorities and ran to the car where he assisted two small children in the backseat to safety.  He returned to the car and unfastened the seatbelt of the mother in the driver’s seat and helped her to safety.  The car was then engulfed in flames and full of smoke minutes after this heroic rescue.


Hero Letter Carrier Chris Bazinet (center) proudly displayed his PMG Award while receiving congratulations from District Manager Eric Chavez (left) and National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) President Branch 599 Tony Diaz (right).  Bazinet also received an accommodation letter and Hero pin from (NALC) National President Fred Rolando and Southern Area Vice President Operations Shaun Mossman. 


Bazinet and his co-workers enjoyed refreshments and a celebratory cake during the presentation event.

Kemp and Floyd Retire



St. Petersburg HQ Customer Retention Agent Thomas Kemp (above) proudly displayed his retirement cake during a celebration event with co-workers.  Kemp retired with 30 years of service and stated, “This is the best job that I ever had!”
